Commission for Women

About

The Allegany County Commission for Women (ACCW) is a dedicated organization committed to improving the status of women in Allegany County, Maryland. Established on August 25, 1993, the ACCW focuses on advocacy, networking, and educational programs to address the challenges faced by women and promote equity. The Commission is composed of fifteen members appointed by the County Board of Commissioners, who work collaboratively to develop solutions, promote women's rights, and serve as a valuable referral source for opportunities that empower women.

The ACCW actively participates in community events, promoting health, wellness, and civility while supporting local educational and cultural initiatives. The Commission meets monthly, typically on the third Thursday, to discuss and address issues related to women's needs and equity. Through its various committees, the ACCW plays a crucial role in supporting women's status and opportunities in the community.
