[ARCHIVED] Election - Notice of Action

Update:

Notice of Action:  At its November 3, 2021 board meeting, the Allegany County Board of Elections discussed the notification received from the Salvation Army Community Center and the Midland Fire Station that they are no longer interested in serving as a polling place beginning in 2022.  A discussion took place that included the consolidation of the Salvation Army (4-8) with Fort Hill High School (4-4).  The distance between the two polling places is less than one mile apart. The Town of Midland is offering the Midland Fire Hall as the replacement for the polling place at the Midland Fire Station (18). The Polling Place Accessibility Survey will be completed and discussed at the next meeting.  Discussion took place about moving the Frostburg Community Center (26) because of parking issues.  Patrick O’Brien from Frostburg State University emailed that he would like to see the polling place at the Frostburg Community Center moved to the old gym at FSU. A Polling Place Accessibility Survey was completed at the old gym but there are a couple of outstanding issues regarding the survey.  The Board of Elections also requested that a Polling Place Accessibility Survey be conducted at the Frostburg Armory.  No action was taken at this meeting to change any of the polling places. Further discussion will take place on December 1st at the next regularly scheduled board meeting.

Ballot Drop Box locations were also discussed at this meeting.  Members discussed the possibility of adding a ballot drop box in the eastern end of the county.  Board members did not think it would be feasible to locate a ballot drop box at that end of the county at this time.  Board members decided not to make any changes to the locations of ballot drop boxes at this time.
