Welsh Hill Road Bridge Replacement Project Remains on Schedule

The Allegany County Department of Public Works reports that progress continues on the replacement of the bridge carrying Welsh Hill Road over George’s Creek just outside of Frostburg. Pending weather conditions, surface restoration, the final step, is scheduled for mid-November with the bridge/road reopening to follow. 


The Allegany County Department of Public Works reports that progress continues on the replacement of the bridge carrying Welsh Hill Road over George's Creek just outside of Frostburg. The old bridge has been removed and the new structure is in place. Backfilling operations are underway to bring the site back to final road grade. Pending weather conditions, surface restoration is scheduled for mid-November with the bridge/road reopening to follow. 

Allegany County Government is responsible for the maintenance of 140 bridges. Based on annual bridge inspections, this bridge, Bridge A-126, was designated for replacement in Fall 2021.
