With approval from the Board of County Commissioners, Allegany County Government announces it is accepting applications for the Allegany County Restaurant and Caterers Relief Grant. This is the third round of restaurant relief the county has received from the Maryland Department of Commerce, with funding to be used to provide grants to certain food and beverage providers. Allegany County will receive approximately $251,597.99 to fund this program.

Allegany County restaurants that meet eligibility requirements may apply; however, first-time applicants will have priority. Eligible businesses must primarily engage in activities that, in accordance with the North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS), would be included in one of the following NAICS code categories:  NAICS 722320: Caterers, NAICS 7224: Drinking Places (Alcoholic Beverages), or NAICS 7225: Restaurant and Other Eating Places. All applicants must demonstrate a need for assistance in the application.  Businesses that have already received a restaurant grant may apply again.

The grant can be used for working capital, such as rent, payroll, job training, purchase of equipment and services to expand outdoor dining, such as tents, heaters, warmers, and carts, infrastructure improvements such as HVAC system upgrades, technology to support carry out and delivery, purchase of PPE and disposable food containers and utensils, and sanitization services.

Applications will be accepted from 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021, until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021. Applications for the Allegany County Restaurant and Caterers Relief Grant must be made online. The website also provides grant guidelines, eligibility requirements, and application instructions.
