Recycling OfficeMaryland Recycling Act Reporting
The Maryland Recycling Act (MRA) requires
Allegany County to divert at least 20% of its solid waste to
recycling programs. All
counties must report their recycling tonnages to the Maryland
Department of the Environment for review and approval.
Last year Allegany County’s recycling rate was
31.83%.
With your support in recycling, we hope to again achieve or
exceed this rate. It is very important that we are aware of any materials your company may be diverting from the landfill in the form of recycling or secondary use in the calendar year 2011. Please complete the enclosed form and mail or fax to our office by April 1, 2013.
The
information from this survey will be summarized and published on the
County website to inform citizens of the dedicated recycling
activity in Allegany County.
Thank
you very much for your time and participation. If you have any
questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Terry A. Bennett
