REMINDER Stormwater Management Ordinance

Emergency Regulations Grandfather Current Projects

Allegany County’s revised Stormwater Management Ordinance was developed in response to the State of Maryland’s Stormwater Management Act of 2007 and regulates environmental site design. The revised ordinance was approved by the Maryland Department of the Environment in January 2010, was adopted by the Allegany County Commissioners on March 11, 2010, and becomes effective May 5, 2010, as required by state law. However, in the intervening period of time, on April 7, 2010, the State adopted emergency regulations to specifically address the grandfathering of current projects. Now, Allegany County, in order to incorporate this additional flexibility, has to amend the revised ordinance. The amendments will be proposed as emergency regulations in order to become effective immediately upon adoption by the Allegany County Commissioners. As previously announced, a request for adoption is scheduled on Thursday, May 27, 2010. This is scheduled for the Allegany County Commissioner’s 11:00 a.m. weekly public meeting at the Allegany County Office Building, 701 Kelly Road, Cumberland. For additional information contact Angela R. Patterson, P.E., Land Use & Planning Engineer, Allegany County Planning Services, 301-777-2199 Ext. 130, apatterson@allconet.org .
