Casting Your Vote
Election Dates:
General Election: November 4, 2008
Sample Ballot
The Allegany County Election Office will mail a sample ballot out to every registered
voter prior to the 2008 Primary. The sample ballot will give you an
opportunity to review the candidates. You can mark the sample ballot,
bring it with you to the polls on election day, and use it as your guide.
Polling Hours
Throughout Allegany County, polls are open continuously from 7 AM to 8 PM on Election
Day. If you are in line when the polls close, you will be permitted to vote.
Where You Vote
The election district and precinct of the residential address on your voter registration
record determines your voting location. Election laws require that you keep your
address up to date with the Election Office. Your voting location is shown on your
voter's notification card.
If you have any questions about where you vote or whether
your registration is up to date, call the Allegany County Election Office at 301-777-5931.
Absentee Voting
Registered voters of Allegany County may apply to vote by absentee ballot if
qualified. If circumstances require that you continuously vote by absentee ballot,
you must apply each election year. A single application can be completed for both
the Primary and General Election.
How To Apply
To apply for an absentee ballot you must complete and submit an application for absentee
voting. An Application can be completed for both the Primary and General Election.
