Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Allegany County Transit to support and improve access to public transportation services throughout Allegany County. Allegany County Transit is committed to efficiently and safely deliver transportation services that meet the needs of Allegany County and its citizens. Allegany County and its employees shall seek to serve and meet the public’s needs through Fixed Route and Demand Response (ADA Service) transportation services in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
Allegany County Transit Services
Allegany County Transit serves Allegany County, Maryland with affordable, efficient, and courteous transportation service. The Transit operates a fixed route bus system and Alltrans, a demand response and ADA Paratransit in Allegany County, Maryland.
Fixed Route Bus Service
The fixed routes bus system operates Monday through Friday. All routes originate in Downtown Cumberland and offer service to LaVale, Frostburg, Frostburg State University Campus, Cresaptown, Midland, Lonaconing, Barton, Westernport and Luke. Bus fare is $2.00 with NO transfer fees. For more information about the Bus Routes click here.
Frostburg State University Service
Allegany County Transit provides transportation to Frostburg State University Students and Facility and the general public, when FSU is in session with the FSU Shuttle. For more information about the FSU Shuttle click here.
Alltrans - ADA Service
Allegany County Transit operates a program called Alltrans. Alltrans operates two components, Demand Response service for the elderly, and the ADA Paratransit service for disabled persons. For more information about Alltrans click here.
Directions to Allegany County Transit Offices and Maintenance Facility
By Public Transportation:Take the Red Line Loop 2 from Downtown Cumberland Rose's to the corner Virginia Ave and Elder St, before the "Potomac St & Virginia Ave" Stop Time. Walk one block to the corner of Elder St and, to Lafayette Ave, the facility is the large blue building, please use the Lafayette Ave entrance to the office.
West From Frederick: Take Interstate 70 West to Hancock. At Hancock, take interstate 68 West into Cumberland. Take Exit 43B "Industrial Blvd./Airport". At bottom of exit will be a stop sign. Take a left on Howard St. Then turn right onto S Mechanic St. Continue on to Industrial Blvd. Exit right onto Canal Parkway. Turn left in 1.2 miles onto Elder St onto Elder St. Drive two blocks to the corner of Elder St and, to Lafayette Ave, the facility is the large blue building, please use the Lafayette Ave entrance to the office.
East From Morgantown, WV or Pittsburgh, PA: Take Interstate 68 to Cumberland. Take Exit 43B "Industrial Blvd./Airport". At bottom of exit will be a stop sign.
