The Department of Public Safety, Homeland Security & Bureau of Police coordinates the efficient and effective administration of four core services and two branches:

 

Bureau of Police

Emergency: 911

Under the direction of J. Robert Dick, Chief, provides road patrol and Great Allegheny Passage (Allegheny Highlands Trail) security.

 

911 Joint Communications Division

Under the direction of  Acting 911 Joint Communications Division Chief Richard L. DeVore, manages the Allegany County 911 Communications Center.

 

Emergency Management Division

Under the direction of Emergency Management Division Chief Richard L. DeVore, provides county coordination of preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation of man made and natural disasters. Emergency Management has 3 branches:

  • Operations:  Animal Control, Facilities and Fleet Maintenance,

  • Special Projects
  • Special Operations:  Hazmat, Collapse, Confined Space, High Angle, Swift Water and Incident Management Team

  • Logistics: Communications

Emergency Medical Services Division

Under the direction of Emergency Medical Services Chief, Steven J. Kesner, manages the county's response for emergency medical services, Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support.

 

Homeland Security Branch

Reporting to the Emergency Management Division Chief, manages the county’s prevention, preparedness, and response to homeland security events.

 

Administrative Branch

Reporting to the Director, provides administrative support to divisions.

 

Director’s Advisory Committee

The Department of Public Safety, Homeland Security & Bureau of Police -  Director’s Advisory Committee is assisted by the Director’s Management Team, those individuals responsible for the Bureau of Police, 911 Joint Communications Division,  Emergency Management Division and Emergency Medical Services Division. Members are appointed.
