COUNTY ESTABLISHES TASKFORCE TO STUDY TRANSPORTATION RELATED ISSUES

August 9, 2018 (Cumberland, MD) - The Board of County Commissioners of Allegany County at its Public Meeting passed a resolution establishing a taskforce to study transportation related issues in Allegany County. The taskforce's purpose is to undertake a comprehensive review of the current state of transportation and transit operations in the county and to propose solutions to improve coordination and promote accessibility.

The resolution, presented by County Administrator Brandon S. Butler, establishes a taskforce comprised of business and community leaders as well as actual passengers of the County's transit system. The taskforce will also include representatives from the Western Maryland Health System, Western Maryland Consortium, Frostburg State University and Allegany College of Maryland.
“Transportation issues have a huge impact on our communities and businesses. It's incumbent on all of us to have an open conversation and propose real solutions for a lasting and sustainable system for Allegany County," commented Butler during the public meeting.

The County is accepting recommendations for interested citizens who would like to take part in the taskforce's work. Those interested can email countyadministrator@alleganygov.org.
Taskforce meetings will be announced in advance and open to the public.
