July 26th, 2018 (Cumberland, MD) - The Allegany County Board of County Commissioners at its public meeting unanimously approved the appointment of Ms. Angela Patterson as Allegany County’s first Director of Planning and Growth. The Board of County Commissioners approved the reorganization of county government to establish the department in May 2018.
“The creation of the Department of Planning and Growth marks a significant step forward for Allegany County Government,” stated Brandon S. Butler, County Administrator. “I am confident that Angie’s appointment as Director will make a lasting and meaningful impact on how this County approaches planning, land development and permitting.”
Ms. Patterson is a Maryland Professional Engineer with 16 years of professional experience in planning and engineering. Patterson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from West Virginia University and a Masters of Science Degree from Florida State University. Patterson brings to the role years of experience in the private sector including planning public involvement and engineering. She has served as the Land Use and Planning Engineer in Allegany County for 12 years.
“I am excited to take on this new role and grateful for the opportunity to lead this department,” commented Patterson. “I see the Department of Planning and Growth as a supporting department to the broader goals of Allegany County. Everything we do should support economic development, improved infrastructure, and the overall safety and quality of life for our residents. The Department of Planning and Growth will plan for and facilitate successful projects in Allegany County.”
Ms. Patterson has been a resident of Allegany County for 13 years and lives in Frostburg with husband, Adam, and 3 children, Will, Norah and Sam.
