PITTSBURGH — One hundred and fifty miles, 48 hours and eight team members - could you do it?
Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon Inc. announced the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) Trail Relay Wednesday.
The race challenges relay teams of eight runners to tackle 24 legs of varying distances in 48 hours along a 150-mile trail that spans from Cumberland, Maryland, to Pittsburgh.
The race is the first of its kind, and organizers said they hope it becomes a destination event for runners.
The inaugural relay race is scheduled for Oct. 12-13. It will begin in Cumberland and end in Pittsburgh.
Registration for the first GAP Trail Relay is open here.
