Title VI of Civil Rights Act of 1964

Allegany County Transit (ACT) is committed to ensuring that no person is excluded from participation in or denied the benefits of the transit services we offer. This policy is consistent with the requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
If you believe you have been subjected to unequal treatment because of race, color, or national origin, then you have the right to file a formal complaint. Complaints may be filed within one-hundred-eighty (180) days following alleged discriminatory actions. Complaints may be submitted by mail, telephone, or email to the following:

The Allegany County's Equal Opportunity Contact investigates employment discrimination complaints at the county level. This agency serves as the local equivalent to the Maryland Commission on Human Relations and the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
This office investigates employment complaints and strives to stop discrimination before it starts by increasing awareness in the community about discrimination laws, and the steps needed to comply with anti-discrimination laws.

Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE Program)

Allegany County Transit (ACT) is committed to the participation of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) in ACT contracting opportunities in accordance with Federal Regulation 49 C.F.R. Part 26, effective March 4, 1999, as may be amended (Regulations). It is the policy of ACT to ensure nondiscrimination on the basis of race, color, sex or national origin in the award and administration of U.S. Department of Transportation assisted contracts. Allegany County Transit, as a sub-recipient of United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funding, intends to comply with this requirement and would like to receive comments from the public with regard to its goals and goal-setting methodology.  The purpose of Allegany County Tranist’s DBE Program is to create a level playing field on which DBEs can compete fairly for contracts and subcontracts relating to the ACT’s construction, procurement and professional services activities.
